Self-styled environmental freedom fighter Jeremy McClintock has caused outrage in his hometown of Bromley by raising money for charity through illegal cockfights.
The globetrotting ex-reporter and current leader of The Right Path Party, who recently organised a charity football game in Kenya with Chris Martin from Coldplay, has been described by Charlie Shine, his next door neighbour of fifteen years, as "revolting" and "a cock abuser".
In an exclusive interview with Cull, Mr Shine, who's known Jeremy since he was a schoolboy, said: "Jeremy's really let himself and the whole community down. One minute he's playing soccer with Coldplay, and the next he's cock fighting. If it was dogs I could understand it. I think most people will feel revolted by this."
Although precise details of his involvement in the cockfights are still unclear, McClintock is known to have attended at least one contest in May 2007, in Loxley Woods, Chislehurst, in which he and other participants abused their cocks.
Cockfights are currently illegal in Britain.
More recently McClintock's website has promoted cockfights in Bali, including a "charity event" held on 16 July 2007, which his website describes as a "worthy environmental cause".
McClintock hit the headlines at the beginning of this year when Rolf Harris and a host of TV celebrities attended the launch of his political party in Royal Parade, Chislehurst.
Since then McClintock is reported to have been campaigning for The Right Path Party in Bromley and Chislehurst, as well as in a number of UK constituencies in the southeast. |
